Accessibility
As an occupational Therapist I am committed to provide access and enable individuals, groups and collectives to access meaningful activities and spaces.
This is done by an assessment process that supports a treatment/action plan, using task analysis as the basis. Task analysis is a process that breaks down each task in the activity to determine what barriers are in the way and therefore what is missing to participate in the meaningful activity. Some areas of investigation to consider are what are the existing skills, strength and knowledge, what adaptations can be made to the environment, what aids or specialist equipment is needed or what skills or knowledge can be taught or gained.
As an example accessing a social space, participation in decision making, making a meal, maintaining a job, travelling.
